Not a replacement for your people
Docents, labels and wall text stay exactly as they are. This reaches the visitor who was never going to ask a question out loud — and hands your staff the ones who now want a longer conversation.
Under 1,000 guest sessions a month, ArtScope costs nothing — permanently. Not a trial, not a discount. If you sell something, we take 5% of the sale and nothing else.
We don't sell your information. We'll reply once — nothing else unless you ask. We use what you send here to answer you; see our Privacy Policy.

How it works
Docents, labels and wall text stay exactly as they are. This reaches the visitor who was never going to ask a question out loud — and hands your staff the ones who now want a longer conversation.
Large text, 70+ languages, and the whole story at the visitor's own pace on their own phone. Someone who reads slowly, someone who reads Spanish, and someone who finds a crowded room hard to think in all get the same show as everyone else — without asking anyone for help.
A pedestal, a tablet or a QR code turns any wall, case or corridor into a guided experience. No app to download, no hardware contract, no vendor integration.
What it costs
Free, permanently. Not a trial that converts, not a discount that expires, and not a reduced version of the product — it is the same ArtScope a gallery pays 5% to use.
One rate, the same one everybody pays, on any sale recorded through ArtScope. If you never sell anything it never applies and the account stays free.
Editions, catalogues, benefit auctions, shop stock — payments run through your own Stripe or PayPal account, so the money arrives where your organisation's money already arrives and your finance office handles it the way it handles everything else.
Your visitors' data
Visitor details reach you, not a data business. We don't sell them, license them, or use them to build anything. We don't sell your artists' work either. ArtScope makes money one way — 5% when a piece sells — which means the only thing we have any incentive to do is make the visit better.
Payments run on Stripe or PayPal, and a visitor's payment details go to them directly. They never reach ArtScope's systems.
Before you ask
Yes. ArtScope is free for museums, libraries and nonprofits under 1,000 guest sessions a month, permanently. Visitors scan one code at the entrance, then point their phone's camera at any piece, with no code beside it, and read about it in 70+ languages, in the browser, with nothing to download.
One visitor opening your exhibit on their phone, however many pieces they go on to read. Ten visitors in a morning is ten sessions, whether they each read one label or all forty.
We talk to you. Nothing switches off, and no invoice arrives out of nowhere. If your programme has outgrown the free tier, that is a conversation about what you need next, not a penalty.
You hold the relationship and we hold as little as we can — a name, an email and a phone number only where a visitor gave them to you for a reason, like a receipt or a delivery. We don't sell any of it, and we don't license it.
Yes. Nothing about ArtScope requires a price on a wall. A permanent collection with no shop and no editions runs exactly the same way, and stays free.
Working together
We're a small team, and that cuts both ways. We're glad to help identify grants your programme may qualify for, support an application with technical documentation, and shape what we build around what your institution actually needs. That is easier to promise honestly at our size than it will be later.
